My mom's oven has a cook time button which sets a timer and turns off the oven when it goes off. Does anyone actually want the oven to turn off at the timer without checking on things first? I think her oven thinks too highly of itself.

Why microwave interfaces not been standardized? My parents' microwave has you click "time cook", the turn a dial to adjust the time by 15s increments, click the dial to set it, then click cook. Why do I have to click the dial?
