becarella's jots on subjot-dev

What's a good icon that means "rich media of an unspecified type"? Right now we're using an ice cream cone (because it's a treat), but I'd like to use something that communicates the content better.

Check out all the new link types that will now appear inline with jots! http://embed.ly/providers
Also, check out this adorable Shibu Inu puppy: http://www.ustream.tv/sfshiba
We just moved to new servers! Those excruciatingly long page loads should be a thing of the past. Big thanks to @jereme for helping us track that one down!
Looking at the first working draft of the Subjot redesign by @giff! We put the mockups online: https://sites.google.com/a/superplusfun.com/sub.... Please let us know what you think!
BIG UPDATE! We pushed out a v0.1 version of a mobile site. It has limited functionality, but now you can jot and read your feed on your phone with markedly better performance. Bonus feature on the desktop site: auto-expanding jot and comment boxes!
I think Subjot needs a word that describes the user-subject combo since that's what you follow, but it's kind of a wordy thing to explain. My first thought was 'jotsicle' but that's definitely not right. Ideas?

YouTube videos are now embedded inline when you have link your jot. Tada! http://youtu.be/mHXBL6bzAR4
Pushed out a bunch of bugfixes tonight in preparation for more user testing tomorrow. To our wonderful existing jotters, you might enjoy seeing an accurate follower count for a single subject on pages like: http://subjot.com/becarella/subjot-dev/
We're back up with backups! There may be a few stray notifications that you got duplicated or lost. That was some learning experience. Sorry about all the down time today!
Wow, we had some extreme data loss today. Working on restoring from backups now. Meanwhile, expect to see some unexpected new subject notifications, low jot counts, and missing subjects in your list.
We're ready to invite the makery tomorrow! A new FUE, invitation codes with custom default subjects, and a suggested first jot to get over that hump. Plus cupcakes.
You can now add a short description of yourself that will appear on your profile. Check it out: http://subjot.com/settings/user
Thanks to your feedback, we've made some big updates to the People page. You can link your twitter account to find friends and you can find users by subject. Let us know what you think! http://subjot.com/users/find_friends
Our apologies if Subjot has been iffy tonight. Our hosting provider, heroku, is currently experiencing issues. http://status.heroku.com/ We'll get through this together!
I broke the jot submission form for a few hours as a result of a related bugfix. Sorry about that. You can jot again now!

We're starting to integrate inline media! If you include links to an instagram photo or bnter convo in a jot, you'll see the image when comments are expanded. Like http://bnter.com/convo/13964 and http://instagr.am/p/CGKpi/
We updated the subject selector on the add-a-jot form! Now it's easier to create a new subject, and you get suggestions from your friends' subjects while you type. Please let us know what you think, especially if you find any bugs. <3
Adding "DEV MODE" in red capital letters in the header of my dev build still doesn't prevent me from accidentally posting or commenting on dev instead of prod.
SoundCloud integration is live! Share you SoundCloud favorites automagically by linking things up at http://subjot.heroku.com/settings/apps. Note: behavior can be a little peculiar if you ever unfavorite something. But why would you do that?
We have our 1st 3rd party app integration! Hook up your ex.fm account to subjot at http://subjot.heroku.com/settings/apps
ex.fm integration was pretty darn easy! prettying it up before we push it out, but awesome++
Performance improvements pushed! 50% improvement in rendering jots, 25% overall speedup for home page rendering. Nixed the pagination and went with a could-turn-into-endless-scrolling solution instead.
Working on getting the feed/home page to load faster. I have a solution, but it broke the will_paginate plugin. Using off-the-shelf code doesn't always make dev go faster, but I'm still trying to resist the urge to build everything from scratch.
OK, firefox users! Text entry should be noticeably less sluggish now! It's still no chrome, but we're progressing.
Trying to tackle the slow text entry in Firefox again. I'm pretty sure it's related to too many listeners or a couple listeners triggering way too often. Any advice for debugging slow javascript?
You can now manage your email preferences at http://subjot.heroku.com/edit/settings. Daily emails go out at 11:30 ET
Planning to push out new email settings later today so you can receive email updates once a day or not at all.
We need to add photo integration so I can spam my pets category with 10 pictures of my cats per day. I'm leaning toward twitter click-to-open-in-same-page style rather than FB's inline-but-takes-a-lot-space-and-looks-messy style.
Let's say Subjot gave you the option to get just 1 email/day with new activity. What time of day should that email show up? Early in the morning b/c it's the first thing you want to read? Lunch? Mid-afternoon for a work break? Evening after the work?
