I love this itinerary in the old family album I scanned: http://flic.kr/p/9Knia6. From NYC to Yarmouth by steamer. Departing NYC on the North River from Pier 18, which is now long gone and buried under Battery Park.
Found an itinerary for a trip in Aug 1928 originating in NYC that stated all times listed in EST. DST had a start in 1918 and 1919, but was repealed after 2 years. It came back nationally in in 1942, but NYC kept DST to maintain hours w/ London.
